About Sarah Smith

Sarah Smith is a proud Tulsa Public Schools alumni and mom to four current TPS students. She is thrilled at the prospect of representing her community and her alma mater by serving District 6 on the Tulsa Public Schools Board of Education.

Sarah graduated from Nathan Hale High School within District 6 of Tulsa Public Schools in 1996. While attending Hale High School, she was enrolled in concurrent classes at Tulsa Technology Center and Tulsa Community College. She went on to The University of Tulsa, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication.

Sarah has served on the board of her neighborhood association for several years and as an officer on three PTA boards over the past 12 years. Sarah has been an active parent to her four boys during elementary, middle and now high school in Tulsa Public Schools, working with teachers, students and other parents to address challenges in public education both in and out of the classroom.

For the past 20 years, Sarah has focused on building community bonds through effective communication and hard work. She hopes to extend those efforts to the school board by building relationships with her board colleagues and focusing on several key areas:

  • – Attracting and keeping more certified teachers in the classroom
  • – Remain focused on student outcomes
  • – Ensure tax dollars are spent wisely and efficiently
  • – Keep politics and politicians out of the classroom

Sarah has served on more than a dozen clubs and boards of directors but is most proud of her work with the Tulsa County Post-Adjudication Review Board (PARB), as well as Count Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). Sarah, her husband Jared, and their four children are members of Harvard Avenue Christian Church.
